2020 Sir 102 Golf Board
GOLF CHAIRMAN REPORT JANUARY 2020
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all,
I hope this message finds you and your family and loved ones happy and healthy and excited to be going into a new year full of possibilities for personal growth, exciting vacations and maybe a slight reduction in our golf handicaps.
I would like to report that the transition to the SIR Branch 98 golf software program is on track and going great. Gary and Steve Adams have done a fantastic job working with the Pete Morelli from Branch 98 to get this up and running.
Currently Pete has transferred the first portion of the program over to Gary and Steve so they can begin the task of modifying it to support our Branch’s needs. I am very excited about how fast this has happened and the possibilities of bringing a very intuitive program that will allow our members to sign up for our tournaments as well as update tournament results by the time golfers return home from playing. We plan to have a golf meeting after the January SIR Luncheon and will provide details about the status of this transition.
I would like to report that the golf club (and Branch in general) are doing very well. Don Wagner and Gary Bohn have done a yeoman’s job updating our golf regulations. This will be an ongoing process and your recommendations are always welcome. Jim Reese has hit the ground running and is already working to understand the new software and work with the old to keep our tournaments going while we change to a new system. The rest of the leadership is also working hard to improve our golf program.
For any of you that cannot go a week without hitting the ball (like me) I wish you luck trying to hit the ball when the temperature hovers down to 30 degrees. The rest of the country would not be impressed with our efforts to play in these temperatures since those are highs in many parts of the country. This speaks to our sincere pleasure at playing this game; even when conditions are difficult.
That’s enough from me. I hope all of you are as excited as I am about the coming year and the many possibilities for comradery with good friends and the endless pursuit of improving our golf games.
